The badge counts the places the check finds where the file will break, the same findings you see when you paste it here. It reads the file again at most once an hour, so it follows your changes without you doing anything.
What you paste into the README
One line of Markdown, shown above once you give the address. Whoever clicks the badge lands on the check with your file already in the box, and nothing runs until they press the button.
The file must be public: the badge fetches it from its address and keeps only the address and the count, never the file.
